Western Towing has five storage lots across San Diego County, and the corporate office is at 4370 Pacific Hwy, San Diego. Quick Tow SD is not affiliated with Western Towing, doesn’t own or operate any of their lots, and can’t release your car from one. This page exists to help you find the right lot, know what to bring, and get a straight answer on hours before you drive across town. Once your car is released, we can tow it home or wherever it needs to go.
Western Towing is a private towing operator that holds cars under rotation contracts with local police departments and property managers around San Diego County. If your car turned up missing after a street tow, an accident, or a parking violation, it’s worth checking whether Western Towing is the company holding it before you assume it’s somewhere else. If you’re not sure who towed your car in the first place, start with our guide on how to find your towed car in San Diego, which walks through matching where the car was parked to who had the authority to take it.
Western Towing corporate office and main phone
The main corporate address and primary storage facility is:
4370 Pacific Hwy, San Diego, CA 92110 Phone: (619) 297-8697
Call this number first if you’re not sure which lot has your car. Western Towing dispatches out of this office and can point you to the correct storage location. Have your license plate number and the approximate date and location the car was taken from ready when you call.
Western Towing storage lot locations
Western Towing operates multiple lots across the county, and which one holds your car depends on where it was towed from. Here are the verified locations:
| Location | Address | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Corporate / main storage | 4370 Pacific Hwy, San Diego, CA 92110 | Main office, call here first if unsure |
| Miramar | 8710 Miramar Pl, San Diego, CA 92121 | Roughly 8 AM to 5 PM Mon-Fri, closed weekends (call to confirm) |
| Mission Gorge | 6990 Mission Gorge Rd, San Diego, CA 92120 | Roughly 8 AM to 5 PM Mon-Fri, closed weekends (call to confirm) |
| La Mesa / College area | 7182 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115 | Listed as open 24 hours |
| El Cajon | 529 Front St, El Cajon, CA 92020 | Call ahead to confirm hours |
| Chula Vista | 1187 Walnut Ave, Chula Vista, CA 91910 | Call ahead to confirm hours |
Do not drive to any of these lots without calling first. Hours vary by location, and a police-hold release can carry different rules than a standard release even at the same lot. A wasted trip means another day of storage fees on top of the drive.
Always call ahead before you drive out
This is the single most important step. Call (619) 297-8697 and ask three things: which specific lot has your car, what that lot’s hours are today, and what the release will cost. Storage fees at most private tow yards accrue daily, so confirming the amount before you go saves you from an unpleasant surprise at the gate. If your car was impounded on a police hold, such as a DUI-related impound, the release rules can be stricter and the hold period longer. Our guide on how to get your car back from impound covers the general release process and what a police hold changes.
What to bring to release your car
Every private tow yard in San Diego County asks for roughly the same documents at pickup. Have these ready before you go:
- Valid driver’s license for the person picking up the car
- Proof you’re the registered owner, or a notarized authorization letter if you’re picking up on someone else’s behalf
- Current vehicle registration
- Proof of insurance
- Payment for the tow and storage fees, and confirm what forms of payment the specific lot accepts (cash, card, or both) when you call
If the registered owner can’t come in person, most yards require written, notarized authorization naming who’s authorized to pick up the vehicle instead. Confirm this requirement when you call, since it varies by lot and by whether police placed a hold on the release.
If Western Towing doesn’t have your car
Not every tow in San Diego County goes to Western Towing. If you call and they don’t have a record of your vehicle, check these next:
- City of San Diego police tows go through AutoReturn, the city’s official contractor. See our general guide to impound release costs for how that process and fee schedule works, and check our Angelo’s Towing San Diego page and AutoReturn San Diego impound guide if you’re still searching.
- A private-property tow from an apartment or business lot posts a sign at the lot entrance with the towing company’s name and number.
- A freeway tow goes through CHP, who can tell you which yard the car was taken to.
Knowing your general rights around towing in San Diego also helps once you’re standing at the counter. Our know your rights towing guide breaks down what a tow yard can and can’t charge you, and what documentation they’re required to give you at release.
Getting your car home once it’s released
Western Towing releases the car to you, but getting it from their lot to your driveway is a separate problem, especially if the car isn’t drivable or the registration lapsed while it sat in storage. That part is where we come in. Quick Tow SD runs 24/7 towing across San Diego County, and we’re not affiliated with any impound lot or rotation contract, so there’s no conflict of interest in the tow home. Call (858) 923-5787 once your car is released and we’ll get it wherever it needs to go.
